The Brutal Crew.

  • Gavin Jefcoate

    Event Director

When Gavin isn’t standing, sleep deprived in a field in Wales, he’s a busy architect running his practice in the beautiful Scottish Borders and taking every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

Gavin became ‘infected’ by the Brutal bug when he competed in the first Brutal Full distance Triathlon back in 2012. He has since completed the full and Double distances and was building up ideas of attempting the Triple Brutal when COVID hit (damnit!)

He’s passionate about keeping the event true to its roots: a tough, beautiful and fiercely supported experience in the heart of Snowdonia.

  • Rob Morgan

    Event Director

Endurance Coach, Guide Runner, and Ultra Athlete

From finishing the Double Brutal Triathlon to guiding athletes with visual impairments, endurance sports for Rob is all about embracing challenges, transcending limits, and supporting others in pushing beyond their boundaries.

Whether he’s competing, zip tying together finish gantries or offering emotional support to would be Brutal finishers, Rob is committed to helping athletes rise to their potential and achieve their own impossible.

  • Justin Squirrel

    Chief Mascot

Justin has been a part of Brutal Events almost since the start. Always ready with a cable tie and an inappropriate joke or two, he is an integral part of the Brutal Triathlon.

He has been known to scare a few exhausted ultra triathletes by jumping out some bushes during the run section dressed as a giant squirrel…

  • Claire Smith

Event Founder & Social Media Monkey

Claire Smith loves all types of adventure and enjoys pushing her limits. She also has a passion for helping other people realise their true potential and really believes that you can do anything you put your mind to. Claire is by no means a natural athlete, but has never let that stop her entering (and even finishing) some quite tough events.
