Solo 3’R Attempt: Martin Hill

Martin is attempting to be the first person to finish a 3’R!

And yes, that’s exactly what it sounds like…

He will start at midday on Friday from Studland and run to Charmouth to meet up with the Oner runners on Saturday at 1200. From there he will run back to Studland again and then finally back to finish at Charmouth sometime early next week.

Confused? You should be.

With multiple Spine and Two’r finishes under his belt already, there is nobody more equipped to take on this beast of an ultra!

Martin’s Two’r report

An unexpected journey: There and back and er, there again!

It’s funny how an idea manifests itself, usually late at night after a few beers anything seems like a good idea!

In this case it was me ‘reminiscing’ with Claire about the Two’r we did a couple of years ago and joking that maybe we should do a Three’r. Her reply was unprintable, but basically it was a no.
However, as these things do, it sowed the seed of an idea which has become a bit of an obsession over the last few months. As I slowly recovered from an injury in November it became an all consuming motivation to get fit and give it a go.

Studland to Charmouth to Studland to Charmouth - 246 miles - what could go wrong?!

There are a few parameters to this challenge: complete the ONER distance within 24 hours, complete the Two’r distance within 60 hours and complete the whole thing within 100 hours.

I’m going to be kind to myself and do it self-supported this time, unlike my un-supported Two’r last year, so still no crew, but at least I can buy myself coffee and treats. If anyone wants to join me for a stretch at any time, day or night please do, the company and motivation will help me along.

Many thanks, Martin.
